The Health Jigsaw – Making it Fit, 18-20 October 2006
CPVHA Annual Professional Conference, Harrogate International Centre

Jess Pryce-Jones was the main motivational speaker at this year’s conference organised by Amicus for 1,000 community practitioners and health visitors. The conference highlighted the different layers of health and social care offered by a broad range of agencies. It also focused on the different challenges faced, and how agencies can work together to achieve a holistic service for everyone.

Jess delivered the conference’s final talk and highlighted the happiness project that she and Philippa Chapman worked on in Slough. She also shared some of the tools and techniques that can empower health-workers as they care for and support others. Other speakers at the conference included Dr Tanya Byron who spoke about the parenting on TV debate, as well as Rt Hon Patricia Hewitt, MP, Secretary of State for Health.

Jess said, ‘With all the current upheaval inside the NHS there is a huge strain on those who have to deliver care. I want to support them in their considerable challenges – so that they can support others. That’s what’s important in this equation and that’s what tends to get lost, especially in a climate of cutbacks.’
